What happened to Tim Cook, gay Chicagoan and gay icon?

Cook was a champion of gay rights, campaigning for a gay civil rights bill in Illinois.

He was also a passionate advocate for the gay community, working as a volunteer at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Illinois State Archives.

Cook’s activism came to an end in 2016 when Cook’s wife, Toni, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

He died of the disease on March 8, 2018, in his home in Chicago.
